my experience

My 4 year old had an eeg done back in november because I pushed for a referral. Genetic epilepsy runs in the males on his dad's side and he was doing little things that bothered me...ALOT. The child who knew his alphabet for MONTHS started forgetting his J every time, losing train of thought during conversations and staring off into space and then forgetting he was even talking in the first place, and very often would say nursery rhymes/songs completely out of order when we'd been saying them together for months.

They put him on zarontin but I havent given it to him for a couple of months because getting a follow up appt has been a problem and I dont want him taking a medicine that no one is monitoring. But here's my question. Do any of you guys have children that experience ODD forms of absence seizures such as I've mentioned? He spaces yes, but no eye rolling or breathing change or anything like what I see his dad do...he actually just looks like a child deep in thought. What worries me is him forgetting things he knows. Thats really upsetting to him, which is very emotionally upsetting to me.

he was sick with a tummy bug yesterday. Last night he went to bed at 11:30, I literally nudged him out of bed this morning at 11:45 because I was worried about him. Today is absolutely the WORST day he's ever had. He's the ruling house champion at Wii sports games we play as a family...today he forgot how to do most of it. I know video games can cause a problem for some but they NEVER have for him before..I dont think that is it. He also can't say humpty dumpty or twinkle twinkle little star right today, although he did zip through the alphabet fine. His words are coming out fine and clear, they just aren't in the right order for what he wants them to be.
